(From reading al-Naba’s text….) the most fundamental problem within modern day Kharijite-ism is the scrotal compulsion to “be better” than every other religion, culture or civilization. It’s part of what drove the formation of Islamic State — originally a rebellion against Zawahiri, but positioning itself as “more pure” in order to gain justification.
The compulsion isn’t “Islamic”. It’s basic human nature. (Upon occasion, I have to kick my own butt to get myself out of it.)
