Islamic State is justifying its religious self, pontificating as it peers into something of a mirror. (During the Iraq war, Al Qaeda In Iraq was, in practice, essentially an Iranian ally.)
But as of this day, I’m beginning to think, Donald Trump is becoming a more effective member of Iran’s Axis than al Qaeda might have ever been.
If he and his uneducated Secretary of “War” publicly and stridently order the invasion and holding of any of Iran’s Strait islands (even the easiest-reached Greater Tunb), the resulting American casualties will put Trump’s tail on a high rack of House/Senate impeachment and conviction. Even if not convicted in the Senate, the casualties (including the damaging and possible sinking of US Navy ships) and resulting political fracas will give “victory” to Iran.
If Donald goes for Kharg, stupidly ordering and forcing an amphibious assault (necessarily by way of the Strait), conviction in the Senate will be a certainty, as will a rabid self-destruction of the MAGA Movement. The IRGC and its Qom toadies will triumphantly announce that the occluded Mahdi has returned, the Millennium has arrived. Islamic State will be left sitting on the curb, counting its toenails.
