The Pied Piper of Hamelin has been written, spoken, ‘theatricized’ in many ways. The usual emphasis is upon the Piper – who, what and how – but the crucial element is the children. They are the actual center of that fable.
They are able to be led down the emotional garden path. The Piper (for example, either of these jihadis) is merely someone who knows how to do it to them.
That is the sole purpose of this eulogy. It has nothing to do with Zarqawi, and everything to do with ‘the tribe’.
The civilization which survives, will do so because its common people have grown (individually, and as a functioning community) into maturity. That maturity will be in every aspect of daily life.
