Somewhat on the topic’s sidelines …

Today among the anarcho-syndicalist wing of the Left, Allende might not be a fervently-worshiped saint, but Pinochet remains the Spawn Of The Devil (if not he, himself.)

I have four books and several pdfs on Chile’s recent history — focusing on Allende’s three years and Montalva’s immediately prior, on Pinochet and the Chicago Boys, and on the subsequent economy.

I’ve also worked thru the W*k*ped*a sections regarding Pinochet, his government, and the ending of it. The radical slanting by the contributing authors is best described as the infantile whining of two-year-olds who’ve just learned the meaning of the word No!

One of the pdfs was cited on the forenamed website, claiming that “modern [meaning post-Pinochet] Chile has one of the highest levels of inequality in the world.” Referring to the pdf itself, reveals a shift in the definition of inequality to a deliberate re-tailoring of Chilean income and taxation statistics. Down in the pdf is a self-damning phrase: “‘…the high average income of Chileans.” Those six words are in fact true, and they flush the pdf (and possibly the website’s reputation) down an Internet toilet.

(And yes, the website still says that Rauff was deliberately recruited etc etc etc. The one thing the website’s Pinochet section lacks is an AI-generated photo of Pinochet giving the Hitlergruß.)
