It’s a fictional romantic drama set in 1921 Dublin & London, (filmed in 1936), based within the Troubles and the independence movement. I’ve read that it’s “loosely based on Michael Collins”, but think that’s an advertising overstatement. Still, it’s a good tale told well, strong drama and a delightful romance, and it pictures the various factions of both sides, all the way to a bloody-fanged group of IRA-like critters. (It stars Brian Aherne and Merle Oberon, with David Niven in a supporting role.)
Very educational, on a complex topic. Thank you.
(somewhat off-topic, have you ever seen the film “Beloved Enemy”?)

I haven’t. Is it worth getting hold of?
