That particular “Bolshevik narrative” recurs time and again.
In the 1965 movie Dr. Zhivago, while he’s been conscripted to serve in a Bolshevik battalion, there’s a sequence where the Reds are attacked by White fighters coming through a field of grain. The attackers are killed, and the Reds edge out into the field to see who exactly the opposition was. They were young boys in military academy uniforms, callously led by old white-bearded men (quite-theatrically, Tsarists.)
1965 wasn’t all that long after the 1950s, when the Second Red Scare in American history occurred, during which Hollywood was well-known – (“everyone knew that”) – as being full of Commies.
But the era was also included the Weather Underground and Bill Ayers’ “Prairie Fire”. Decades later, Ayers and other Chicago ex-CPUSA members groomed and ran Barack Obama for the Illinois legislature, the US Senate, and the Presidency. (Were they still ideological Bolsheviks, or had they descending into the more-basic mental state of class-warfare-driven anarchism?)
